G.R.O.U.P Testimonies

Testimonies

God enabled me to grow into a whole new level of faith through GROUP. I had previously been studying theology, but I was yearning for something more. I knew I was missing something. GROUP showed me how to walk in a true and abiding relationship with Christ. The teachings applied to my life. They gave me the tools I needed to work out my faith in a deeper way. I met friends in GROUP who helped me along the way immensely. I learned how to enter into God’s presence through being with and learning from them. During the course of my time in GROUP, the Lord delivered me from the fear of man and lust, both of which had a hold on me for a very long time. Because I was taught how to get free from finding and closing the open doors in our past, I feel confident that I will be able to stay free and help others to find freedom. In fact, in the summer of ’98 the Lord used me to minister freedom from the spirit of fear to a young lady who was with me on a mission trip in China. The Word came alive to me in GROUP like it never had before. It was revealed to my spirit week after week, I was no longer simply apprehending the Word in my intellect. I feel like God freed me from an overdependence on my mind. He freed me to walk closer with him, depending on His Spirit within me. I feel sure that without GROUP I would not be walking in the relationship, freedom, and abundant life that I am experiencing now in Jesus Christ! I am very grateful to God for leading me to GROUP to for the discipling I received..

I guess I consider myself a G.R.O.U.P.ie for life. It is hard not to when you see so much freedom that comes in your walk with Christ.  The only question is “Why would you ever want to leave the fellowship of G.R.O.U.P.?”  You see I was the first G.R.O.U.P. member.  I have had the chance to see G.R.O.U.P. develop from just praying (in some smelly van) over a church to see revival come, to seeing young men and women come through G.R.O.U.P. and leaving forever changed because of God’s hand moving in their life.  I also have had my life forever changed, and seen others receive that same freedom I had.  I count it all a blessing.  “Freely I received, freely I will now give.”  What I love most about G.R.O.U.P. is not having the pressure of knowing it all.  You see I grew up in church, everybody including myself assumes that you know everything about true spiritual living.  At G.R.O.U.P. you just come as you are.  You have a chance to be a disciple in a small group setting, learn about spiritual principles that will bring freedom in your life.  In has been over five years and I have found out what the Word says about me instead of what the world says about me.  I am now in full time ministry.  For the past three years I have been involved in Masters Commission and now do travel ministry, promoting discipleship.  This new ministry is called Remnant Ministry.

I am eternally grateful to have been and be a part of G.R.O.U.P.  Along with a local congregation, God gave me the precious gift of covenant with His entire body – all those who seed to know God, dare to believe, and live out all the truths of His Word.

In G.R.O.U.P. I have experienced the joy of “living” with brothers and sisters who live a life of Praise unto God!

Personally, God has used G.R.O.U.P. (all of G.R.O.U.P. – the principles and the people) to fine-tune my hearing (sometimes I am slow to hear!).  The prophetic cry resounds that God wants a people who will fear Him!  He runs after a people who will radically and recklessly abandon their pre-conceived notions to be changed – transformed into His Holy People.  He charges after to make Himself known and cause us to believe.

Principles that have come to life through the teachings and commitments of G.R.O.U.P. are of everlasting significance.  They have caused me to turn my neck (sometimes I am stiff necked!!).  Yes, I now look up in the Fear of the Lord.  I turn to His Word for illumination!  I turn to elders, mothers, and fathers in the faith, for wisdom.  I turn to behold the treasure within my brothers and sisters and want to cheer them on in this journey too see Jesus.  My heart is toward the wandering souls who desperately need to be rescued.  I have been changed in that I look to discern God’s glorious presence, Emmanuel, in every day moments.

G.R.O.U.P. is a precious gift and a prophetic knowing that God has birthed in the hearts of two and it has reached many.  As I have been and am being recreated, I have witnessed the molding and shaping of other lives in G.R.O.U.P.  This is true covenant with God for He said, “I will be your God and you shall be my people.”  God is transforming tired bodies into champions.  He is changing disbelief into belief, despair into hope, bondage into freedom, mourning into dancing (yeas, dancing!), and barrenness into fruit!  It is a holy awakening, a holy shaking!  It is overcoming and purposing to choose to fear God – not man.

In summary, I was very tired when I began G.R.O.U.P.  I was so tired of being so busy, even in the Father’s business.  Through God’s awesomeness, I heard the biding of a friend to just come, to come and see, to taste and see that the Lord is good.  Oh, and He is so good!  I have tasted!  I have found rest for my mind and water for my soul.  I have been saturated with His Word.  I have been loved.  I recall many precious moments and powerful miracles I experienced in G.R.O.U.P. and my heart rejoices in this covenant of discipleship and love.

G.R.O.U.P. Ministries and the G.R.O.U.P. Manuel have discipled me into Christ-like love.  I have received freedom in Christ through several different areas of my life.  Even more importantly, I not only received freedom but now understand the basic principles in God’s Word on how to live the abundant life.  A life free from mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual bondage.  The Heavenly Father delivered me from a generational curse of depression, lust, and masturbation.  The Lord did not stop with just deliverance but he gave me inner healing in my mind and emotions as well – Praise God!

As a result of the Lord working in my heart and life, it has even flowed and influenced my relationship with my father, mother, sister, and brother-in-law just to name a few.  My brother-in-law, sister, and mother have all gone through the manual and many areas in my relationships with them have been healed through Christ’s love and forgiveness.  I have just taken the basic principles presented in the manual (which contains much of God’s Word) and put action behind the principles.  Guess what?  We can live the righteous and abundant when our hearts and lives get in line with the Word of God.

The Word and Spirit working together in unity have lead me to ask many people to forgive me of my sin and I have had to forgive them of their sins against me.  I have experienced many relationships brought into reconciliation in Christ Jesus.

The G.R.O.U.P. manual teaches several basic principles that every believer has to live by if they desire to be a disciple and live the abundant Christian life.  I have been discipled into Christ likeness and I will continue to grow and be discipled until I die or Jesus comes back.  No matter what job or place I live I will always desire to disciple others into Christ-likeness.  What I have freely received, I am commissioned by Christ, to freely give.  AMEN!

The first time that my husband and I went through G.R.O.U.P. our lives fell apart at the seams.  All in one semester, our two cars both broke down, we had to pay $700.00 in taxes, my husband lost his job, and we had a miscarriage after being pregnant for two months.

The day that I found out that I had the miscarriage happened to be the same day that the Women’s G.R.O.U.P. was to have their prayer night.  I called my G.R.O.U.P. leader, Esther McAlpin, and told her that I had miscarried and I asked her to get the women to pray for us.  She told me that they would.

That night, around 7:00 p.m., after a day of tears and unbelievable grief, my husband and I sat down at our kitchen table and felt a tidal wave of peace and joy come over us.  We knew that the women had been intervening for us in prayer (we felt so much better we even made cookies!).

Despite all of the hardships that my husband and I had to endure that semester, we both believe that if it was not for the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ, and the support of our friends from G.R.O.U.P. we would not have the hope and joy that we have today.

What kinds of activities were most meaningful to you during the G.R.O.U.P. season?

  • The main group meeting and how well the principles are backed by scripture.
  • We prayed together and prayed over each other.  Accountability. Just talking and sharing our hearts with each other!
  • The night we prayed about rejection.  We as women hold on to so much hurt and pain.  Hurts that we carry for years.  To actually face those hurts and give them to God gives such freedom.  It is something that needs to catch like wild fire in the church.

How would you sum up what this study had done to help you in your walk with the Lord?

  • Just the Power of His Word and that I must stand on it.  Learning who I am in Christ (accepted, loved, forgiven).  Die to self and live only for Christ – I cannot live for myself He must become GREATER!
  • Wow!  I have grown SO MUCH!  I have found freedom from so much!
  • Through these lessons I as reunited with God’s love.  I was able to recognize things in my life that did not need to be there and I was able to release them.
  • It has brought healing to my life!  It has helped me to stay focused on my basic walk with God.  It strengthened my faith in God.  It provided me with Christian friends who supported me and did not judge me when I talked over my week.
  • Definitely refined my walk with Christ – gave me more focus.
  • Most definitely brought me closer to God.
  • I have been made aware of what the Lord requires of me, and how I can fulfill His call on my life.
  • Community – Community – Community – Good solid teaching.  I came to G.R.O.U.P. pretty fired up because God had begun a good work in my life.  I was really hungry for fellowship and looking for a different look of how God is moving.  I feel humbled and challenged by the depth of humility and the atmosphere that allows for a deeper level of honesty or transparency.  “A Deep Breath of Fresh Air.”
  • I have always heard “you need to do this to draw closer to God.”  This G.R.O.U.P. has taught me “how to do.”
  • It has helped reinforce my faith and stretched it to realize the importance of healing for everyone – Christian or non-Christian.

What do you sense God has revealed during this study that He wants to do in and through your life in the days ahead?

  • How to receive victory and keep it.
  • I feel that He wants to free me from the things that have bound in the past – and he wants to raise me up to minister to others like me in small groups as well.
  • I have realized that God has His hand on my life and He wants to do a great work through me.  My job now is to prepare myself for the future He has planned for me.  I feel like God wants to use me but I am not sure exactly how yet.

InClosing . . . . .

  • This was the one thing that I looked forward to every week.  G.R.O.U.P. has strengthened, encouraged, and enabled me in my walk with God.  I have been so blessed!  Praise God for you all!
