When listening to this lesson , please take into consideration that everyone has their own stories and personality in which to facilitate the lessons. When teaching the lessons,  allow the Holy Spirit to shape and direct the group session. Each group has it own personality and needs. Don’t try to be like someone else, be yourself. Please know I am passionate about making disciples, as you will hear in this session.

God’s Radical, Overcoming, Uncompromising People

Men/Women Discipleship Groups

Philippians 1:9-11

And this is my prayer that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.

To the degree we choose to obey God–allowing the  Holy Spirit to renew our minds through God’s Word, to that degree we can overcome Satan’s efforts to ensnare us.

T H E   P U R P O S E S :

·  TO MAKE DISCIPLES

-Matthew 28:18, 19 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. . . .”

·  TO ADMONISH & ENCOURAGE

Learn who we are in Christ, who He is in us, and appropriate what we have in Him. –To understand that our lives  have purpose and that God loves and understands us.

Admonish: To give advice or instruction of warning.

Encouragement: The goal of admonishment is to build up and strengthen or equip.

-Hebrews 10:24, 25 Let us consider how we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

-II Timothy 4:2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction.

-Galatians 6:1, [Reminds us]. . . to restore gently . . . Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with

-II Peter 2:3-8 We are made to reflect Him and He has given us everything we need for life and godliness . . .

TO SERVE (SERVANTHOOD)

Authority in God’s kingdom has a servant’s heart.  It is not given for self-importance, ambition or respect but for useful service to God and His creation.  A real leader in God’s kingdom has a servant’s heart.

-Matthew 20:27 Whoever wants to become great must become a servant.

·  FOR HEALING AND RESTORATION

Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal areas in our lives that need to be healed; for example, fear, bitterness, doubt, jealousy, anger, or low self-image.  Through the knowledge of Truth, take steps to forgive, reconcile, and love unconditionally.

Luke 4:18,19 “He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

T H E    D I S C I P L I N E S :

FEAR OF THE LORD

-Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

OBEDIENCE

Monitor thought life.  Memorize Scripture to counteract any negative thinking.

-John 14:23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.”

-II Corinthians 10:4-6 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

·  HOLINESS/PURITY

-I Peter 1:16 For it is written, Be Holy, because I am holy.

-II Timothy 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

·   SUBMISSION/ACCOUNTABILITY

Communing with Jesus is not something you do, it is a place where you dwell.

-Hebrews 13:17 (NLB) Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say.  Their work is to watch over your souls, and they know they are accountable to God.
